Yacht Provisioning Items For Christmas

With Christmas right around the corner, we understand that private and charter yacht crew will be preparing for the festive season by decorating the vessel, ordering provisions for that all-important Christmas party, and preparing for a luxurious, shared meal. However, sourcing items at the end of the year can be a real struggle. Especially when the rest of the world is in holiday mode. That’s why, at Gourmet Deliveries, we make it our mission to assist our clients and help them prepare for a smooth celebration – whether this involves guests on a charter or simply the crew!

With that in mind, this blog will explore some of the most popular and requested provisioning items during the Christmas period as well as how to source them.

Christmas Trees

It is said that Santa Claus brings gifts for children on the eve of Christmas and places them under the tree. So, it’s no surprise that a tree is often the main focal point during the festive season and this doesn’t change when you’re having Christmas on a yacht.

In fact, Christmas trees, including Balsam Firs and beautiful White Pines, are one of our most requested items during this period.

Luxury Decor

As yacht crew and their charter guests prepare to celebrate the festive season in style, high-quality Christmas decorations become one of our most requested yacht provisioning items.

We typically get requests for Christmas wreaths and garlands, tinsel, baubles and hanging ornaments, disco balls, fairy lighting, and even fake snow machines to create the perfect white Christmas!

Secret Santa Gifts

Secret Santa is a much-welcomed activity during the festive season but if you’re stuck for gifting ideas fear not. The team at Gourmet Deliveries excel at sourcing and wrapping high-quality Christmas presents for even the hardest to please.

We’ve got something for everyone – whether it’s a personalised gift for a yacht charter guest or a thoughtful gift for a member of the crew!

Christmas Crackers

Christmas crackers are an established part of the season’s festivities, but in recent years, we’ve noticed a significant increase in the number of our clients who are looking for something that little bit special.

That’s why we’ve included Langford’s sterling silver and gilt Christmas cracker. This full-size, celebratory cracker pulls apart at the centre to reveal a tubular space for secreting a special surprise!

A hearty Christmas meal is one of the most celebrated aspects of the season. So naturally, several spots on a festive provisioning list are reserved for items of food, including meat and sustainably sourced fish and seafood.

The long tradition of eating seafood on Christmas Eve dates from the Roman Catholic tradition of abstaining from eating meat on the eve of a feast day. As no meat or animal fat could be used on such days, observant Catholics would instead eat fish fried in oil.

Foie Gras

“Foie gras” which translates to “fatty liver” in English is a “luxury” food that’s made from a duck or goose’s liver.

This delicious treat has long been a French delicacy, and is now internationally popular, due to its rich, buttery distinctive flavour.

It’s typically sold whole or prepared into mousse, parfait, or pâté. Typical foie gras accompaniments include dried fruits or nuts, or simple sauces such as honey or fig chutney.

While caviar falls into the broader category of fish roe, not all fish roe is considered caviar. True caviar comes from several species of wild sturgeon, which belong to the Acipenseridae family. Of the 27 sturgeon species, almost all can be harvested for their eggs but beluga, sevruga, and osetra have long dominated the caviar world.

The rarest – beluga caviar – is the largest and most expensive caviar. At close to $3,500 per pound, it deserves its nickname, “black gold.”

Whether they’re being given as a gift to a fellow yacht charter guest or simply consumed as part of the Christmas festivities, many of our clients choose to include alcohol as part of their yacht provisions list, and that’s where we come in!

At Gourmet Deliveries, we have an expansive range of high-quality alcohol, including champagne, wines, whiskey, tequila, rum, and so much and more. So what are you waiting for? Place your order online today.
